  The Franky Award was founded in 1999. It is given to those individuals that pay tribute to actor Boris Karloff and/or the classic story of Frankenstein. Below is a list of people who have been given this honor. 1999 - Sara Karloff...daughter of Boris Karloff AND Gene Wilder...co-writer and star of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN 2000 - John Zacherly...TV horror host who introduced my baby boomers to the great Universal monsters including FRANKENSTEIN 2001 - Christopher Schildt...Author of a brand new book The Frankenstein Legacy which was published in 2001. 2002 - Glenn Strange...Actor who took over the role of the Frankenstein monster learning from the master himself, Boris Karloff This year Tribute Promotions has chosen make up genius Jack Pierce. Head of the make up department at Universal Studios, he worked along side director James Whale and actor Karloff to create a look that has become a legend and a monster icon. It is with pleasure to honor him in the same year that the United States Postal service has decided to put his image on a stamp in the series, AMERICAN FILM MAKING: BEHIND THE SCENES. |
